1 Attachment(s)
Hello everyone, I am posting this for a friend, forum member who would like to know what these markings might mean, maker, place of manufacture, etc. Thanks in advance for any input in identifying these markings, Jimpul

This is my sword. I'm not sure if the writing is Latin or possibly Greek/Cyrillic? Could say Autland? Andros?
Interesting to me are its Turkish features; both the globoid pommel and the shelf-like bolsters (reminiscent of those sometimes seen on pesh kabz) that develop from the brass tang liners. The blade is quite machete like in its outline and its flatness. The flats and spines are hammered to shape. The tip is not atypical of some machetes, but the ones with a yelman-like tip.... My best guess is Eastern European? Is this familiar to anyone? |
