This is my last adquisition,I just bought it, normally I donīt buy this type of edged weapons, but several years ago I seen one knife similar this and since this moment I couldīt forget it.
The measurement is long (1ft) 3cm wide-in middle (1 1/4 inch ).
What are your opinion? age?
thanks again
best regards

Interesting piece. Never seen anything like it. The shape of the blade and the habaki indicate a japanese origin. But it is not a typical Tessen.
Googling for "tanto fan" reveals some similar looking items but no large amount of "cool antique ninja weapons", which is usually a good sign :-)

Best Regards,
Thilo

A typical Japanese "fan" tanto. Not uncommon; mostly tourist pieces. See my page on tanto (when site is back online, March 1) at:

I agree with Richard.
The sugata (shape) is pore. This kind of blades and mounting where made in de Meiji period.
But still an antique piece from Japan.

The blade shows a hamon... It may be poor quality, but it's a 'real' blade. As for the shape, it's made for concealment.

yes, it looks like a hamon and yes it is real blade. But when i see the pictures and judge the nioi guchi, then I don't think it is a real nihon-to.
