Oh Flavio, how wonderful! Thank you for posting these. Shame some of them are crammed together ion space.

Flavio 16th January 2011 06:49 PM

Hi Jose, they are restructuring the museum a floor per time (in fact they haven't yet a catalogue unfortunatly :( ). These pieces are in the "basement" all in these old gigantic closets with a very low light. I took the pics with the flash on, even if it's not allowed :o but it's the only way to see all the pieces..... I see them only in the photos because it's soooooo dark that I wasn't able to see what the closets contained....... Maybe there are also some other pieces that I haven't seen

Awesome! Thanks Flavio. Like dreams I have, finding a hidden stash of weapons. I wake up trying to hold on to something but my hands are always empty in the end.

flavio, thanks for posting these pics! :)

last september when i went to barcelona, i inquired at the front desk of this museum whether they have philippine items. he said there's none so i decided to look for other things to do that day.

moral of the story: one has to find out for himself and not trust the museum receptionist ;)

in other words, thanks a lot once again for posting the pics!

I ALWAYS ENJOY PICTURES FROM A MUSEUM :D . THERE ARE SOME NICE AUSTRALIAN ABORIGINAL WEAPONS THERE IT MAKES ONE WONDER HOW THEY CAME TO BARCELONA.
I TOOK A FLASHLIGHT WITH ME TO THE MUSEUM IN CARIO EGYPT AND PLAYED ARCHEOLOGIST ITS FUN LOOKING INTO CASES IN THE DARK YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU WILL FIND. THE CARIO MUSEUM IS A LARGE ONE AND MANY ROOMS ARE SELDOM VISITED AND POORLY LIGHTED. MOST PEOPLE JUST GO TO SEE THE MAIN EXHIBITS KING TUT ECT. BUT THERE IS MORE TO SEE THAN THAT, I CAN ONLY IMAGINE WHAT THEY HAVE IN STORAGE.
IN THE OLD DAYS MUSEUMS OFTEN HAD THINGS BUNCHED UP AND OFTEN THE LIGHT WAS POOR SO I STARTED TAKEING ALONG A SMALL FLASHLIGHT LONG AGO. MANY MUSEUMS HAVE BEEN MODERNIZED NOW AND THE LIGHTING IS MUCH BETTER AND THINGS ARE DISPLAYED SEPARATELY AND NOT JUMBLED UP. THE DOWN SIDE OF THAT IS THERE IS ONLY A FRACTION OF THE ITEMS ON DISPLAY WITH THE VAST MAJORITY IN STORAGE.

I am very intrigued by the kampilanlike sword with the knucklebow and finger ring!

tom hyle 19th March 2011 05:34 PM

In the picture marked "last two" there is a sword like a mix between a kampilan and a Naga dao!
