Hello Semar,

I would say it is a golok (btw a very, very nice one) but I don't know from where but when I would guess: javanese. A closeup from the handle will maybe helpful.

Regards,

Detlef

Hello semar,

Beautifull golok.

Here an example of what I think would be a similar golok which is in the Leiden museum collection: number 913-66 from Java.

Yours looks a lot nicer with the silverwork around the scabbard and the very intersting blade!

Hallo Semar,

Lucky, lucky lucky you. :)
Absolutely stunning golok. I saw it too, but decided to stick to Borneo and Atjeh and not get distracted, however tempting it may be.

I would say also Java,
The style makes me think of the better pre 1900 Tjikeroe weapons.
But this one is different and even more refined.

Great addition to your collection !

Best regards,
Willem

I also guess this is a Sunda piece - nice! Wouldn't rule out the Bengkulu region though.

How about giving the blade a slight etch to see what's currently hidden? ;)

Kai
