Hello,
Someone can help me ? What are the origine of its bichaq? are its greek? Length: 31 cm Thanks for advance |
The fullering, the hilr shape and the hilt decoration all look Turkish to me. Pinpointing it to a specific area is hard, but my best guess would be Bursa.

They both seem to be from Trabzon compare them to the two pictured below which are older examples.

Lew, looks pretty spot on for ID on these. When I first saw these, I began thinking of the Cretan daggers, but as I do not have that book with me I really couldnt place. What are the distinctions on the Cretan daggers? It seems like they also have the splayed pommel, but again cannot recall for sure. All the best, Jim |

I personally do not think they are from Trabzon - the spliced pommel was popular throughout Turkey and even in the Balkans. I am attaching two mid 20th century knives from North-Western Bulgaria with a spliced pommel and a kama with similar hilt decoration and blade markings, also found in Bulgaria. This is why pinpointing a specific place of origin in Turkey is hard.

They look Bosnian to me. My only doubt is the sheaths that look like some of the daggers I have from central Asia.
