Hi,

I've aquired recently a yat with inscriptions on both sides.

Can you please translate them?

It is the same inscription written on both sides?

Thank you very much!!!

Unfortunately most of the first inscription is erased, it is nearly impossible for me to read it. I can only make out two words: Zulfikar and darbını (its strike).
For the second one, my additions to Dom's dating are as follows:

Thank you very much, both of you!

I feel a little bit unhappy about the second cartouche. The previous owner should have been more carefull. Deeds like that makes me very angry :(

Is there any possible guess what the inscriptions says?

It seems that I've mixed up the photos, there are three :o On the other side of the blade, there are three differnt cartouches with writings. The second two with missing characters also, I'm affraid.

For the previous pictures, it is difficult to make a guess with a few words since I have not seen a similar one till now.

For the new ones:

The first one is

Bıçak elde gerek dilde sübhan
Ya Muhammed kıl şefa'at ümmetindir

One should have knife(yataghan) in his hands and the Subhan (popular name for Sorat Al-Isra from Quran) in his tongue.
O Muhammed! Intercede on the day of Judgement on the behalf of Hüseyin Ağa,
who is one of the believers

Funny thing is the person, who were writing this, should have been out of space at the end and had to omit last letter of süphan and the name of the owner (which usually comes after ümmetindir) from the inscription.

The writing on the second cartouche is also erased but from the words that still stand intact I was able to make a guess:

Sinn-i ‘adaya ya Rabb bu bıçağı kıl nişan
Sahibini daima muzaffer eyle olsun ‘alişan

May God make this knife a sign on the bossom of enemy
May God make the owner of this knife always glorious and illustrious

The third one is hopeless for the moment.
