Unknown African (Sudanese?) Dagger
I recently acquired a collection of knives. Mixed in with the older (WWII) military patterns, there were a couple ethnographic examples, including this African dagger.
The hilt is leather wrapped over wood. The scabbard is formed leather. The blade measures approx. 12.25 inches / 31cm, with an OAL of 17.75 inches / 45cm. Comments, estimated age, and area/tribal attribution all welcomed and warmly appreciated. :) http://img535.imageshack.us/img535/7585/wscab1.jpg http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/1...ttreatment.jpg http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/8629/scabdrag.jpg http://img534.imageshack.us/img534/2613/scabdesign1.jpg http://img63.imageshack.us/img63/6636/scabdesign2.jpg Thanks as always, Chris |

Thanks, Louie...
The previous owner had bought it locally at an antique store sometime in the '70s... Chris |
