I assume we have some forumites who have experience with this kind of repairs. Although, when it is not loose, I would just leave it as it is. |

Dear Hartadi,
From the pictures, I think the crack had been repaired before. Very often kemuning will warp and crack such that some parts of the wood will bend away from the main body. I've not seen how the repair is actually done, but I believe the wood may be bent back towards the original position and wood-glued back in place. This may possibly involve partial breaking of the wood to push it back into place. I have a keris sheath which was like that (when I 1st possessed it) and then had it repaired. A give away is the lighter tone on the wood, which is the result of sanding to smoothen the area which was fixed. I think it is a good repair, and is best left as if. :) |
Hi Toh, agreed...! Thanks.
I'll probably leave the crack as it is now. Re-joint the crack will encourage me to do rasp that resulting different colour of kemuning with an antiques color. I know there's a chemical we can use for re-color the wood, but avoid to do so. |

Of course the idiot that sold it to me shipped it in a soft envelope .   Mine wiggled a bit but not much . Solved the problem by forcing 5 minute epoxy glue into the crack and holding it tight by hand . Clean up before it sets hard . :) |

It is a good way for keeping your keris close at hand, but people start to stare in public places. and traveling by plane gets impossible :p |
