Old Moro Kris restoration (Help)
I acquired this Moro Kris a few days ago from ebay, thought it would be a nice restoration project. I managed to solder the silver handle together.
What I do need is a brass or swassa asang-asang (clamp) similar to the other kris. (see last two photos). Insight on the handle style would be greatly appreciated. The handle is consist of silver and yellowish metal butt cap. Thanks. http://s963.photobucket.com/albums/a...uBKtsFgYl_.jpg |
Very nice job.

Hey Hideyoshi, if you don't mind i'm going to post your photos directly to this forum. Already the first link you provided has no photos on it and down the line this new link you provided most probably also will have no photos for reference making this thread useless for future research. It is always best to use the manage attachments tool below and upload directly to the forum so we can preserve these images in our archives for later discussions. :)

Nice find Hideyoshi.
As Napoleon Dynamite would say "LUHCKY !!!! I might know of someone that can make a baka-baka for you. Let me know. Congrats on another good find. |
Hello Hideyoshi.
Nice project, and nice work on the handle. But on which temperature did you solder it together again ? And the blade ? are you going to etch it ? Best regards, Willem |
Hello Willem,
I used a regular 100-140 watt soldering gun, not sure to what degree of temperature it produced but it did the job. I had light etched the blade, just enough to see the twistcore pattern. I will re-etched it again once the restoration is complete. link: http://s616.photobucket.com/albums/t...urrent=008.jpg Kino, Thanks for the compliment. As for the clamp, I rec'd an e-mail from Battara last night. thanks for the offer. |
