Spanish knife ?
 

This was catalogued as Persian but i am getting a Spanish vibe from it ,9.5 inches long stacked hilt with amazing inlaid brass wire .It has an inscription which looks like Nobre je 1897 would like to hear your thoughts . Graeme .

BTW: 'Nobre' is a surname, so I guess you are lucky enough to have an example where the maker is known!

Can I ask, what is the exact length of yours? Mine is almost exactly 10 inches.

If the Blade length is between 15cm and 18cm then you have a:

I wonder if they are from the same town. or indeed if they might have been made by the same family as these are often made by 'family' handed down businesses?

Thats an interesting Albacete knife! I like the slightly offset handle! Have we see it here before?

Well, regarding the "name", what I read in the inscription is:

"Nobre de 1897"

which makes me think the "Nobre" bit is not a name but a contraction of "Noviembre". If I'm right, the inscription would then be translated as "November of 1897".
Not a flourished nakago mei in a nihonto's tang (then it would read something like "a lucky autumn's day in the secon year of the Regency of Maria Cristina"), but a date, nonetheless :)
