Timor sword?
5 Attachment(s)
Hello dear members,
just win this sword by e-bay. When I follow Albert van Zonneveld this is a sword of the Timor group type c. An example is to seen in his book on page 138. Here the pics from the seller. It is 77 cm complete (?). What do you think? All comments are welcome, thank's in advance, sajen |
The blade is from a dutch klewang.
Their might be markings at the ricasso : hembrug or milsco. But could also be unmarked Check out the various threads on the "dutch klewang" Further, the handle, yes typical timor. The use of a foreign blade , typical timor. |

Hello Detlef,
In this case I don't think the marking will mean anything to the value, as it is an ethnographic weapon now. It would be funny if it was marked "VINCE" because militairy Klewangs of that making are rare, but MILSCO and HEMBRUG are quite common. There are also Klewangs around without any markings and although they are not very common, militairy collectors do not value them much. Anyway, it is a timor sword now :) |

Just reread this old thread. The marking HEMBRUG was found by cleaning the blade.
