Just ended on eBay nice old dagger but the scabbard is trashed. Seems quite old?

Very nice dagger Lew, we've had a few of this type and they always seem well made with descent blades and as you say look to have some age. One we had was made from a cut down sword/bayonet.

The dagger look very good and I hope that a scabbard restauration will be possible. :)

Pretty nice one Lew. There are dated examples from the 19th century in this style. However this new looks to be a little later judging by the blade, probably early 20th century?

An image of one I used to own that would likely date 19th century (at least the blade) I'm including below.

These all seem to have a pretty similar pattern.

EDIT: Here's a dated one that's been posted on the forum before:

The dagger arrived yesterday and as suspected the scabbard is trash the only thing salvageable is the leather arm band. One lobe on the hilt was cracked off but still being somewhat held in place by the wire wrap. So I repaired it with some super glue. The dagger is old probably early 20th century. Will post pics tomorrow.
