Another Mindanao - Tboli blade for discussion

Hello,

Attached are photos of another T'boli blade that I recently acquired.

This blade was originally purchased from the T'boli in the early 1970's. The blade and scabbard measure approximatley 21 inches.

As I am trying to learn as much as possible about these items, your thoughts and input on any level are greatly appreciated. I look forward to hearing from you.

Many thanks,
Marbel

Beautiful "sangi" knife from the T'boli, I think the T'boli will call this knives different, sangi is what we use here for this type of knives, I think it's a Bagobo term. Blade seems to be very nice laminated, I would polish and etch the blade.
I reference again to my small collection: http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showth...ighlight=sangi
When you bored to look at them send your both nice examples to me, they will be happy to meet their family members! :D

Detlef:

Yes, sangngi is the Bagobo word for this knife--I don't know the term in T'boli.

The top two knives that you show are Bagobo, and the bottom one looks T'boli based on decoration of the hilt and scabbard (not so old as the other examples shown here). The middle one has a T'boli scabbard for the Bagobo style knife.

Marbel's knife is T'boli.
