Wootz Kilij with Indian? handle

Up for viewing is a kilij with a wootz blade and what looks to me to be an
Indian style handle. The handle is also wootz. Another possibility, could the
handle be Persian?. The blade is 27 inches in a straight line, 31 inches
overall. The scabbard is pretty well ratted out and is missing the wood at
the tip. Ideas as to age?...........Dave.

Hi Dave,

Have been enjoying your posts! Thanks for sharing! These handles generally are classified as Indo-Persian but I lean towards India on this one with the style and location of the koftgari and the shape of the langets. I would date this example to the late 18th to early 19th century.

Rsword: Thanks for your comments. Maybe someone can clean up these
pictures so the patterns can be seen on the blade and the handle.
I'm gonna have to fool around with this camera before i can take any
more pictures...........Dave.

Dave, it looks like an Indian tegha style sword, not much can be done with the pictures you posted, your beautiful swords deserve a new camera!
