Well heres another rare beast thats fallen into my lap! {Although Artzi came a close second in his bidding! :wink: }

A Genuine Holtzapffel & Co London made kukri! I presume WW1 but will have to do further research.

Its of truly outstanding workmanship as befits Englands most prestigious & renowned, manufacturer of Gentlemans lathes, prescion engineering tools & fighting cutlery. {Also auther of books on Steel forging,sharpening & tempering etc. as well as ornamental turning which are still regarded today by many cabinet makers as the bible of these subjects.}

Anyway enough of the patter!

It seems to me a little strange that the blade should be so well looked after indeed polished and yet the scabbard appears never to had a dressing in its life. It is an odd match.

Match? :rolleyes: :D

Tim the scabbard leather interia is soaked in a greasy wax like substance, hence the blades condition ;)


The cracked appearance to the leather is the bitumen paint they put on some kukri scabbards in France in WW1 to help stop the water absorbtion.

The blade still has the makers surface Tim. Luckily I know the differance.
