Almost bid on that pair. But they look to recent production, I would say afert wwII. And that two spears on the handle? I do not see any practical use for them for a warior. What do you think?

The only minus is that some "knowledgeable" restorer chromed them :mad:

I saw anotherone verry similar, pratically the same style of piercing on an well known website and it is atribuited to be a saddle axe from Carpathia/Transilvania, 19th century.

What do you think?

Anything I can do to remove that chrome :confused: ?

I think we have seen some of these pierced axes described as coming from Afghanistan, and made in the 20th C. Perhaps there is a thread on the old Forum.

Chroming things was a typical method of preserving and keeping blades shiny in Victorian days. :(

As far as getting the chrome off, very carefully you can try a brass wire wheel or buffer. Very delicately.
