Happy New Year!!

Just hot out of the shipping box. Will be restoring and etching the blade and cleaning up the ivory hilt. The scabbard is also unusual with an inlayed horn band at the throat and base. There is a very old “sticker” with what appears to be Spanish??? I will work on getting the script from the sticker.

Enjoy!!

Good way to start off the New Year. Congrats!
Is the blade twist core?

Congrats! From the auction photos none could be seen, but the classic twist forging flaws could be noticed.

I lean to it being twist.

A real nice old warrior.

Good catch! I was watching the auction. From the pictures here and from the auction, I cannot tell if the kakatua pommel is intact on the back end. Is there any evidence of damage or is it just one of the very abbreviated examples of this form?
