Unknown jambiya from ???

Just acquired this plain jambiyah, 28cm. Double-edged blade, tooled leather sheath, plain brass throat. Rather roughly made blade, grip material unknown, some carving. May have a pommel keeper plate. Should arrive soon. Will update as needed.
Any ideas on it's origin, etc. welcome. Listed on auction as 'African'. Arab influence?

The seller was correct in describing it as African. The pattern on the scabbard looks familiar but I cannot remember where I have seen it before. My guess is Beja, as some of their daggers had similar hilts and blades and the leatherwork looks Eastern African.

Thanks, TVV.:)

Beja is a good idea (or something from around...)

I had some suspicions it might be; I have also recently acquired this one, sans scabbard, tho. A more hooky one. (ruler is in inches)

saw other bejas of assorted blade types in Google images. This one has a rather curved basilard look to the grip. The googly ones had very similar scabbards to my one in post #1.
