This has just joined my family .
An interesting and uncommon form .

Alam Shah 5th June 2008 03:03 PM

Exquisite piece. Uncommon hilt and blade. Beautiful pamor works and sheath pattern. Congratulations! :)

Rick 5th June 2008 04:29 PM

Thanks Alam Shah .

I'd be much interested in seeing other examples . :)

David 5th June 2008 06:29 PM

Rick 5th June 2008 08:40 PM

Rick your hit is the same family of this hit.
On the top of the hilt probably there is something like a naga. In the midle there is an ornament like old classic jawa bracelet for arm

Rick 6th June 2008 02:39 PM

Hi Marco,

Yeah, it's a Gerantiman hilt quite similar to yours .
The curlycue on the top of the hilt looks like an unfolding sprout to me . :)
Maybe someone knows the symbolism of this hilt style .

Anyway, I will take more pictures when/if the weather clears .

Dear Rick, is this keris also in Bali/Lombok Ligan families catagory?

Hi Brekele,
Does this keris have a parang type of blade configuration ?
On my example the edge of the greneng side of the keris is dull until about nine and a half inches from the point, whereas the other edge (gandik side) is sharp its whole length .

I believe you showed a Ligan in an earlier post where I asked for examples . ;)

That is a lovely keris, Ligan or not . ;)

Some close ups for David :

brekele 11th June 2008 02:30 AM

I tried to look arround from almost all lombok local collectors and dealers, but haven't lucky yet to see this kind of keris Bali/Lombok Ligan
I guess only in Lalu Djelenga cabinet :D
Few months ago my best friend have success to bring out 2 strange keris that he keep before, just hope someday 1 more keris called Bali/Lombok Ligan come out from his cabinet for me :p

Rick 11th June 2008 04:57 AM

Funny you should say that Brekele :  :p

Yes, more sophisticated than just "tambang badung" pamor. I think it is the type of "dwi warna" pamor (two kinds of pamor) -- if we look the pamor in the sor-soran (beras wutah or ngulit semangka) and tambangan badung from the mid blade to the tip... Nice pamor works

I'm not really sure what pamor this is; it is a twisted type .
The blade has no iron core; it is solid pamor material as far as I can tell .

I liked this .
