For sale: Two Malay wooden fighting daggers

Hello everybody, up for sale are what I think are Two antique Malay wooden fighting daggers. Im not sure how much these are worth so im open to offers.
I also have a medium sized talibon (35 cm I think..) and a very small knife-like talibon that will be up for sale soon.

Thanks guys,

I could certainly be wrong, but I think these are Oceanic from the vicinity of Chuuk (Truk). I'll see if I can look them up tonight or I'd bet Vandoo would know.

Best of luck,

M.

malay weapon?

I don't recall, read or seen anything like it in the Malay range of fighting weapons. I don't think it's a Malay weapon, though.

Ah well I thought these were from around that area as they came from a collection that included a lot of Talibon and Bolo's.

Thanks for the input guys and to answer the pm's, these are still up for sale and looking for a good home once I get how much they are worth. :)

Cheers,

Will

Now that you mentioned Talibons and Bolos, there is a chance that it originated from the Phillipines? Fighting daggers? perhaps a training item.

MMONTORO IS CORRECT THEY ARE EITHER MICRONESIAN OR MELANESIAN AND ARE USED IN CLOSE COMBAT YOU CAN STRIKE WITH THE FIST OR STAB TO EITHER SIDE. I SENT YOU A PM AND WOULD HAVE SENT YOU A EMAIL BUT YOU ARE NOT SET UP TO RECEIVE. YOU CAN SEND ME A EMAIL OR PM AND WE CAN DISCUSS IF THEY ARE OLD OR NEW. I WOULD GIVE MORE THAN I OFFERED IF THEY ARE OLDER USED ONES AND NOT RECENT TOURIST ITEMS. YOU CAN TELL BY THE PATINA, FIBER WRAPS CONDITION AND IF THE WOOD HAS BEEN CARVED WITH SOMETHING OTHER THAN STEEL TOOLS.

New pictures and little Talibon up.

Hello everybody, I contacted the old man who I bought the collection from, and he told me that he bought these in central Java aprox 40 years ago.

Here are some close up pictures of the damage on the two wooden weapons. on't worry about me eating up all the bandwidth as these are hosted elsewhere.

Also up for sale now is a little talibon, that seems to work very well as a knife.

$40 for the two wooden daggers, which includes postage to wherever you are. As for the mini talibon, I don't know so offers are welcome.
