Same guy, new hairstyle :)

Ok, this keris originally came with a tree-of-life hilt (or corn-cob hilt), but the base was so large that no mendak would fit it unless it was commissioned. So I decided to give the keris a new 'donoriko hairstyle'. :)

Nice handle and very nice mendak

Kai Wee, as usual, another beautiful combination of the fittings. ;)
Good quality mendak and pendongkok are hard to find. :(

The "gun-blue" finish looks nice. Unfortunately, I cannot get my hands on some gun-blue. Would like to experiment on my damascus knives. :)

Hmmm... after looking at the ensemble for a while, the ukiran looks too big for the sheath...

Shahrial - the gun blue finish is the product of the old polishing method and the old way of washing. Don't think they use any specific chemicals to achieve the 'bluing' in the keris.

I know. :)

I do collect knives as well, and wanted to patinate some of my damascus knives which had faded. I used to have access to gun blue during my army days. Had access to SAF armouries and had worked with gun blue on rifles before.

Unfortunately, it's difficult to bring in the item from Europe due to Euro air restriction on liquid items. Cannot get it from USA either, due to US restrictions on chemicals. :(
