Hi All

Picked this up at the show this weekend. Seems to be an older keris? The creature reminded me of a cartoon character from my childhood :)

Surely it seems an old malay (?) keris. Nice the sarong.

Nice score Lew. Yoou should glad i didn't show this past weekend or i may have been vieing for that keris as well. ;)
I know we have seen that sheath form before, either from Kai Wee or Shahrial i think. Maybe they will have something to say. I think this may be a Sumatran form.

I've shown an example of the sheath form before, but Kai Wee do have a piece. [ Kai Wee's example ] Discussion of the pieces [ here ]. ;)

Hmmm... this one is a little tricky. The blade looks Sumatran. The selut, Palembang styled. The hilt form, ... unusual . The sheath's cross-piece looks a little odd, possibly a replacement. The shaft looks nice, truer to the shape of a Sumatran piece. Sorry, just my frank opinion. The blade is nice though. :)

From Sesame Street or the Muppets Show? :)

Did you made the hot needle test, Lew?

Kai

Beany and Cecil from the 60s. Don't need to do the hot needle test I can see the cross hatch pattern in the ivory in spots.
