A wheel lock pistol by Valentin Klett the Younger

5 Attachment(s)
I recently acquired the wheel lock pistol shown in the photos. On the barrel, and on the inside of the lock it has the mark of Valentin Klett the Younger, Suhl (1567-1630) Støckel number 592. Total length 66 cm, barrel length 44,5 cm, caliber 15,5 mm. Weight 1614 g. When the lock is taken out, it becomes clear that some signs are incised in the stock (see photo).
According to Støckel, the stockmakers in Suhl were required to sign with a "Zeichen", but I have not been able to find any information about this.
Can anyone help me out here?
Ole

Welcome to the forum, Ole,
Any reason you uploaded two actual images of your excelent pistol and the others you have linked to PDF files ?
Image size problems ?
Let us upload the other three pictures in a 'visual mode'.

Salaams Ole S, There is still a wheel lock rifle of Valentin Klett existing in the German Hunting Museum in Munich. But also other European museums have old Klett rifles on display: the Windsor Collection includes the oldest rifle with insert barrel from Sigmund Klett from 1652. Further examples of him and Cornelius Klett are shown in the Museum of Baden and respectively in the Metropolitan Museum of New York. And Sotherby's auctions catalogue of June 1991 called on an "extremely rare quad barreled percussion-revolving-pair" manufactured by Paul Klett in 1680 for 20,000 £. See http://thomasdelmar.com/Catalogues/a.../lot0302-0.jpg As in your example he signed his work VK. Very interesting about the signature being required to be a sign or token ... from Old German zeihhan (“sign, symbol”)

Ibrahiim al Balooshi.
