Hello Hanggoye,

Welcome.
Nice entrance with such a hilt.
Your remark about the suasa.
Do you mean you had it tested, or that the suasa is newly made ?

Best regards,
Willem

it's not new made..this suasa come with tajung when i bought it..but i not sure if it come with this hilt in the same date it was make or the suasa is added after the tajung was finished..but from my opinion this suasa is not newly made...do you have another idea??

I love the piece. I love swassa! (notice my avatar:D)

But there are other nice metal decor on it as well that makes this stand out.

You could be right - it may be how the light is shining on them.

Rick 13th December 2009 01:44 AM

This is recent work, yes ?

ThePepperSkull 28th December 2009 10:44 PM

Beautiful! I can see why some people have bigger collections of ukiran than they do full keris.

A fine carver spends at least as much time sharpening as he does carving .
Only sharp tools can give fine detail .

Suggest you check out Spirit of Wood ... :D

I agree that while the hilt is beautiful that the quality of the carving is somewhat coarse and not the work of a master carver. Rick's suggestion to Pepper to take a look at the book Spirit of Wood is a good one. What i would be interested in know is does this mean that the work is more recent or just done long ago by a less skilled carver? I don't really know that much about tajong.

BluErf 29th December 2009 02:30 PM

This hilt has the shadow of a great tajong hilt. :)

I've heard of The Spirit Of Wood from looking at older threads in here. I'll be sure to check it out!

I also have to agree with battara; that lovely red hue of the swasa really adds to its beauty!

I'm not sure I'm too happy .

I have to ask myself if this hilt was presented 'for comments' in order to make a sale .

Can someone disabuse me of this suspicion ?

BluErf 30th December 2009 03:00 PM

Does Semar mean that he has bought a tajong (which he has presented in another thread), and not that he has purchased this particular tajong?

I understand why you thought this Rick, but i believe that Semar is referring to the Indonesian made "tajong" that he posted in a separate thread. I think this is just a language glitch.

Rick 30th December 2009 06:06 PM

Glad to hear this .
I'll go back to sleep then David . ;) :D
