Souvenir sword ?

Hi
I recently bought a lot of 3 swords. A genuine 1800's Kindjal/quama (the reason why I bought the lot), what turned out to be a genuine 1800's tulwar (at first i thought it was a souvenir sword), and this european style sword.
Since i got fooled on the tulwar, I wonder if this one too, could be something more interresting, than just a souvenir sword ?
Happy new year to all !!
Best
Henrik

I know very little about swords but have spent much time separating historical items from items intended as decoration, and I suspect this is one of the latter. It does have some age, cound perhaps be late 19th c., when the noveau riche were spending for "old money-like artifacts" to dress up their mansions. I think the giveaway is the strictly 2-dimensional guard which is great for hanging on the wall easily but would not protect the bearer's wrist from most blows in combat.

Right, John, this is a 19th copy of an early 17th c. style rapier (German Krabbendegen, from the crab-shaped turn down side guards).

Best,
Michael
