Hi,
Can anybody tell me anything regarding the origins of this Buddha statue and possibly decipher the script on the base if it is indeed decipherable. The statue is 5 1/2 inches tall.
Regards,
Norman.

Here is an interim translation:-

"It means made by the order of his majesty or highest order of Ching Dynesty . It is the direct interpretation provided that one of the character carries the meaning the royalty, majesty. "

The person who read this for me is Chinese from Hong Kong, but she has been in Australia for 30 odd years and seldom uses Chinese script. She will check her translation with a sister who lives in mainland China.

Hi Alan,
Many thanks for your response and information and it would be great to have the inscription verified/checked.

Hi Bandook,
Many thanks for your input.

Does anybody think the piece was made in the Ching/Quing dynastic period and if so approximately when or is the inscription just a spurious attempt to add age and value?

My Regards,
Norman.
