Rare Spearpoint from the kingdom of Marta Poera is was recognised by the Sultan of Marta Poera coming from his ancestors .


The sign that is on is only allowed to carry by High rank people.

I don't know where Marta Poera is. Is it in or near the island of Borneo (I base this on its style)?

What a great piece Dajak. I especially like the detailed cutout in the center of the blade. I hope you don't mind but I have adjusted the color and turned the photo to try and show a bit more of the detailing. Thank you for sharing this with us all.

I think this refers to Martapoera (also Martapura) in South Kalimantan Province--not far from Banjarmasin. The town is known for its gems, especially diamonds.

Yes that it is sorry for the less information Banjar etnic by that time it is also long 67 cm.

A BEAUTIFUL SPEAR HEAD. :D THE WORKMANSHIP IS FIRST RATE AND THE CUT-OUT DESIGN SOMETHING I HAVE NOT SEEN COMING FROM BORNEO. IS THAT REGION KNOWN FOR GOOD SWORDS AND SPEARS? WHAT IS THE APPROXIMATE AGE OF THIS SPEAR BASED ON THE TIME AND HISTORY OF THE KINGDOM?

Hi Vandoo,

the first time there was some contact with the Sultanaat was is 1603 by the Dutch people...

In 1811 till 1816 the English people run the area and that is problaby the time that it was taking from there .

Because age and time you can not find anything in books about items like this.

It should be 200/250 years old, an friend of mine who is an friend off the sultan of Martapoera did show him an picture off the spear point and he recognise the sign in the spear point as from his family long time ago....

It went to England and after some time it did came in the Hands of Steen Stromberg.

The Sultan wants to buy it back but on the moment I am not willing to sell it!!
