Spotted on a recent trip to Jodhpur, India. I think it's a flintlock hilt...

DhaDha, I think this would be considered a percussion hilt as it uses a cap for ignition. Beautiful swords!!

Thanks for that. I don't know thing about guns. I'll post some more shots from the display when I get a chance...

A friend is cataloguing this collection at present, which I assume will be published, but maybe not in the very near future.
There is a real mixture of pieces, some of which, unfortunately, are relatively modern. Still, there are some very interesting pieces.
