CAREFUL - ANTIQUE SHAMSHIR MAMELUKE OFFICER'S SWORD FRENCH NAPOLEONIC

There was eBay listing recently titled: "FAKE ANTIQUE SHAMSHIR MAMELUKE OFFICER'S SWORD FRENCH NAPOLEONIC Careful!!!!!"

It said the following in the text: "Not selling. just warning that there is a reproduction mameluke sword that has been intentionally aged to make it look as original and is currently being sold here. Don't get fooled! it is worth only 240 dollars as a repro".

Someone put an effort in an attempt to warn others, alas with no apparent effect. The referenced listing was sold as antique, "LIKELY EARLY 1800s" item.

Here are both items, new and newly-aged, for posterity and future references of how its done... and hopefully not so for those who pay attention.

Nicely 'distressed' as they say in the faux antiques trade.
You can't be too careful:
