MOROCCON QURAN CASE OR MUSKET POWDER/FLINT HOLDER
 

A VINTAGE HANDMADE MOROCCAN BRASS AND SILVER QURAN CASE IN GOOD CONDITION , THE HEIGHT OF THE CASE IS 15.5CM X WIDTH 12CM– COULD SOMEONE TELL ME IF THIS HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH MUSKETS OR FOR RELIGIOUS PURPOSE,CHEERS RAJESH

It's a very good question.
Most of the so-called Quran cases are in fact ammunition boxes.
A kind of Moroccan palaska...

These are Quran cases. Moroccan. I would be very surprised to discover they were dual purpose as bullet carrying boxes. The Bullet box is another dimension altogether being much smaller....and can be found on Library..at http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showth...oroccan+bullet

The Hirz or lucky charm box as worn by Omani silver wearers....women...is usually closed with pitch so as not to lose the written verse if carried in the box...In the case of the Moroccan Quran carrying case ...it being much larger...an entire Quran can be carried...but I cannot see how it could have a secondary use...for ammunition.

The frontal design of the #1 project item is as for the Moroccan religious carpet and on the reverse is a geometric figure 5 format (hand of Fatima related) which is Talismanic.

Yes, the Quran cases are much larger.

Wrong, it's a grease or oil box, Ottoman, probably Turkish or Balkanic, see the link above.

For the symbols, talismanic or not, you can have symbols on religious items or weapons. It's the same with religious inscriptions found frequently on Islamic blades.

Salaams Kuber, I see... So do Moroccans use Quran boxes as bullet boxes? The one I illustrate had a six pointed star on it so I assume this style was used in Morocco...notwithstanding that they used Quran holders for that purpose...? Im just off to Morocco to have a look... :)
I agree about symbols on stuff... weapons, jewellery etc are covered in these inscriptions... I just cant see these boxes being used for carrying bullets??...However please illustrate this.

Salaams Ward... The technique along the North African Coast particularly Algeria was Cloisonne...or enamel work often seen in Algerian sword hilts as well... In this case a Hirz or lucky charm box...or for a miniature Quran. Interesting with 5 danglers on the lower edge...hand of Fatima style...

I agree with others here that your's is likely for carrying a Quran. All the bullet containers I've seen are shaped differently, are slightly smaller, and most important have a loop on the back to attach to a belt so it stays put while on horseback. Here's a couple pics of bullet containers attached to a belt for size comparison.
