Hi to all members,

Would you help me to learn more about my recent acquisition which I have found on this monday in Belgium. There is no mark or stamp on the blade but with the flash of the camera, we can observe à very thight wootz
The blade is very sharpened, it must have a long history to tell...
Blade of 82 cm long / 3.2 cm wide at the ricasso and 2.8cm in center.
Overall length of 93.5 cm
Length with scabbard: 98,5 cm

Thank you very much for your comments or opinions
Fabrice

Hi Fab

Guard, blade and scabbard mounts = Persian
Scabbard leather and hilt/grips = Arab
= Syrian Badawi saif 19th c.

Best

MMM... the joints between the grips look like some Arabian jambiya.
So maybe
Hedjaz badawi saif
Other members will say more...

Nice sword. It is Syrian, but using old Persian parts. A lovely example.

Hi Kubur, Hi A. Alnakkas and many thanks for your comments.

Is there possible to imagine a period for the blade and the mount. the hilt is in leather I think, it seems horn but it is not.
The wootz seems to be "very special" like the "Ladder of the Prophet" what do you think about please.

Good catch! Congratulations! :)

I believe your wootz blade would greatly benefit from some etching. ;)
