Tulwar Tips for collecting

I have one old beat up old Tulwar with remnants of silver koftgari inlays in the hilt. Scabbard is wood and covered in what appears to be World War I vintage khaki cloth, although original scabbard covering was possibly goat hide or other leather. Blade is well worn. I have been looking at lots of Tulwars for sale but feel I have no idea what to look for in the genuine article. How do you figure the age on a Tulwar such as this? Any recommended reference sources to learn more about collecting bonified vintage Tulwars? I am comfortable with identifying European and American swords and distinguishing fakes - but with Middle Eastern weapons I am a total idiot - any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

One thing I always do before buying an Indian something, I make sure I know exactly what the blade is and what material it is made from :-)
