Hello,

Can anyone please help me with the translation of the text in the cartouche of this yataghan?!

Is there a date where the arrow is pointing (maybe upside down)?

It's very tight together but if it is numerals I'm thinking of 1224.

with an online hijiri-gregorian converter that gives 1809 (depending on month)

Thank you very much for the feedback!

I was also thinking about 1224... :) (albeit the 4 looks rather odd, but it is possible to have some part of it missing)

However, it appears there is more written, so I am hoping that maybe Zifir or Kwiatek will be able to tell us more. It would be great to have a signature or a place of origin.

Is it Turkish?! Is it from the Balkans?!

I agree it looks like ١٢٢٤ 1224/1809-10.

In the roundel are the names of the Seven Sleepers of Ephesus and their dog.

There is a maker‘s inscription

عمل مصطفی

“Work of Mustafa”

An owner’s inscription reads

صاحب احمد

“The owner, Ahmed”
