Help on an animal motif on Chinese spearhead

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone here could help interpret this motif? I have really no idea what if could be. At first I thought it was 2 dragons facing each other forming 1 larger dragon head. But then it could a tiger or lion, heck a hairy person for all I can tell.

I'm no expert but it looks like an owl to me.

Welcome to the forum:).
Please let us see the whole weapon and a detail of the decoration only - as big as possible.

Here are bigger photographs of the spearhead (took me a little longer to take them then I thought it would).

It does look like an owl! I was sort of fixated on (in my mind in any case) more common decorative motifs in Chinese art that I dismissed birds from my consideration simply because the carving didn't look like a phoenix.
