Hi Guys,

This mysterious powder flask was sold recently (maybe to a forum member).
Any idea of her origin and date??

Thanks

Thank you, yes India is my choice too.
No one is inspired by this lovely powder flask?
I wonder if it's ivory or bone...

Hi Kubur,
Obviously the shape is of a parrot. You say this was sold recently. What did the seller describe it as? Do you have a listing reference?

This is a delightful item although finding a similar pattern flask is difficult. I have seen other uses in the line of birds.. It seems rather impractical as a powder flask but on that I cannot be certain. Northern India turned out a lot of bird decorated items ...here's a finial in brass (on a grey background)...and other interpretations of birds. My favourite is a Barutdan from Central Asia..with a Turquoise eye.
