Scissors Katar repair project
 

Hi all
Here is a project I am working on over the Christmas break
It is a v rough condition scissors katar
I picked this and another ordinary (but v nice) katar at a local auction
Described incidentally as " two old spear heads"
The scissors katar was v v rusty with none of the silver work showing
I have cleaned everything I am willing to clean and am now on the re build of the missing cross piece and the camming arms to open the blades
Also I will have to manafacture a replacement Spring. And the missing piece that covers the mechanism when I get time
I will have a go at this next week but I taught I might puts some pictures of the on going work.
I will document the spring making as it might prove useful to someone.

I am v happy with the replacement of the moving handgrip and I have used round as the camming arms which will eventually pull the scissors open but welcome comments and advice if anyone has a complete example they care to show pictures of.

IT LOOKS LIKE YOU HAVE THE PROJECT UNDER CONTROL. :) YOU NOW KNOW MUCH MORE ABOUT THESE THAN MOST OF US. EVEN IF WE HAVE SEEN MANY OVER THE YEARS I AM SURE FEW HAVE TAKEN THEM APART OR REPLACED PARTS AND RESTORED FUNCTION ON ONE. I CAN'T ADD MUCH BUT AN ENCOURAGING POST AND A PICTURE OF ANOTHER EXAMPLE.
