This piece just ended on Ebay.

I thought it was a nice piece, though not too old, and planned to bid a little. Surprisingly it went for $405. \ I know it has a mother of pearl hilt, but is there something I'm missing? Always willing to learn, so I'm asking for opinions on this piece. What do you think?

Somebody paid too much, IMO .

I was watching this too but had no intention of bidding, just thought that it was interesting but $405.00

I just missed getting this at $404.99 ;) darn! If you look at the bidding record a newbie with 26 wins was high bidder at about $100 but it seems he put in a $400 bid which was than topped by two other more experienced ebayers but I am still scratching my head?

I was one of the low bidder and never thought that it went high like this also I think that the times are gone that you can buy good gunongs by low prices, look to some sides where you can buy ethnographic weapons; they also want to have good prices.
So, Steve it seems that you have done a good investment in the last years! ;)

I think this is a later piece. Although it has MOP and ivory, there are aluminum pieces in the stacking of the horn and ivory pieces. This makes it more WWII at the earliest.

I would rather pay this much for some of Steve's pieces. :D
