Heraldic blazon from a Medieval sword for ID

6 Attachment(s)
This is some pictures from a great war sword type XII with IHS pommel and one heraldic blazon inlaid in copper in the blade ( an heraldic blazon inlaid with 2 dots and one below)
May be one member had already seen in a book or in a collection a similar blazon and also a similar pommel.
In record of the medieval swords p164 there is a similar example of escutcheon but stamped in the blade.
I hope that I could learn more about this blazon.

hi Jean-Luc,

beautiful sword :)
in western christianity the meaning of IHS is Iesus Hominum Salvator ("Jesus, Savior of men" in Latin).
the first use of IHS in English Literature dates from the early 14thC .
herewith an example of a Pavese with IHS

best,
Jasper
