I'm LOST: Which of you asked for measurements of an incendiary crossbow bolt?

It was probably in May but I can't seem to find the thread ... :(

Anyway, I finally got the measurememts and wish to post them in the belonging thread!

Thank you for helping my old mind along! ;)

Best,
Michael

Ok,

Here they are just in case the person in concern reads this thread.

It'a 14th/15th century Swiss incendiary crossbow quarrel; the haft is of oak, the flights are of osier (withe). All data in mm.

And here is the original piece once again, including a percentage listing of its incendiary components; the outer layer is sulphur, now turned to gray. 4 small oak sticks and layers of linen are meant for stabilization and controled delay of the burning time. A remainder of a piece of matchcord for ignition can be seen.

Best,
Michael

Hi Dirk,

The flights (feathers) are about 1.5 mm thick. :)

Best again,
Michael
