Takouba for Comment

I recently acquired this nice takouba from a fellow formite it looks very nicely done mid 20th century is my guess.

Nice scabbard, I like when they have lots of green leather (usualy the style of Niger ones). The blade seems intact and is very typical.

I am curious about the reverse side of the handle; the guard has a stange stack of oblong parts under the leather. It is the first time I see this pattern.

Verdict : A VERY nice Takouba !

Sincerely,
Zan

A NICE OLD COMPLEAT SWORD THIS FORM OF DESIGN AND COLOR IS UNDOUBTABLY THE ONE THAT GOES WITH THE FANCY TUREG DAGGER DISCUSSED ELSEWHERE. I HAVE ONE MUCH LIKE IT AND THE DAGGERS I HAVE WOULD GO WELL WITH IT NOW IF I HAD JUST BOUGHT ONE OF THE ROBES OF THE BLUE PEOPLE TO GO WITH IT I COULD STRUT MY STUFF :D
