Hi Alan,
the top picture suggests the blade is hollow ground ? The tip is unusual..... it appears to be a conical point? never seen this before :confused: Could you post a pic of the 'point'....seems to be an intriguing knife :)

Hello,

This looks like a kard, but the scroll work reminds me of some new Afghan pieces being made. This type of re-inforced tip is seen on modern pieces as well. The old ones would have a smooth thikening towards the tip, not this abrupt cut. There is a discussion of these Afghan pieces on IKRHS

Thank You,as I said in my 1st post it was a gift so I will treasure it as such but I kinda knew when I saw it it was not like the very nice antique ones I had seen before
