Hmmm...the 'Mad Guesser' would venture French? The bars of the guard resemble many of the types used during the Napoleanic Period (Cuirassiers, Carabinier's, etc). Also, the plain grooved brass grip so typical on French naval types, plus the multitude of briquet patterns. Austria also used similar patterns. The broad, straight dragoon-type blade is impressive! That would mow down an opponent when used on horseback!

It's very similar to the m1831 Danish heavy cavalry sword-

What is wrong with the desire to learn the subject? I did not mention any auction or seller. Nothing at all! You adverted ebay ;)

Nothing wrong with the desire to learn--provided you read and follow the forum rules.

You posted photos of an item currently offered for sale on eBay--a forum rule violation. Simply because you contrived to avoid mentioning eBay does not mitigate your rule violation. In fact, an argument could be made that you attempted to bypass the rules via obfuscation.

Don't do it again, please.

As Andrew stated and because you're quite new here, you could bring this magnificent forum in real trouble by posting questions about pending auctions.Do like we all do and don't. We all wish to learn but above all, we wish to keep this forum alive.

You are obviously unaware of the possible legal consequences of commenting on current auctions. Please just read and follow the rules as stated. They are not in place to impede learning, but as a matter of necessity.
