restauration services in Europe

Hello,

Does anybody know where can I find a highly skilled craftsman adept who can repair antique swords and daggers and is located somewhere in Europe?

Best regards,

Marius Mioc

Yes I know one who is highly skilled. He is working for museums around the world. I have used him and was very satisfied.
I am not sure if he would like his name on a forum, so please give me a PM.

[Not specifically aimed at any recommendation by Jens or any other forumite:]
Just a word of caution that "highly skilled" will probably have to be qualified with culture/region/period of interest since ethnographic pieces are such a vast field of study.

Someone highly skilled at restoring e. g. Japanese swords, may not make the culturally correct/suitable choices when doing detailed work on pieces from many other cultures! There are certainly a few broadly educated and capable folks out there (including on this forum) but I suggest to discuss any project with several people specialising in a given culture *before* embarking on any restoration/repair/etc., especially anything that can't be fully undone.

Regards,
Kai

Kai

I couldn't agree more!

Of course I will discuss the specifics with the craftsman.

:)
