some body can tell mi if the ring is for the thumb or for proteccion only

I suspect defense only but there may also be symbolism behind this too.
To have your thumb stuck in there only offers it as bait.

i agree whis you about the ring,if you look in internet the only information
you can fine is about"lord of the ring"... terrible

To the best of my knowledge the idea is that you'd hold the dagger with the ring on the outside, ie the opposite side from your thumb. Much like a side ring on a sword, it should be primarily there to protect your hand from your opponent's sword.
