"Modern" Catapults

It seems that some historic reenactors were present with the protestors at Maidan, Kiev. You may have noticed it in the evening news that some historically inspired catapults (German: Bliden) has been used.

But also in Switzerland similar catapults were used only some 100 years earlier in World War I (1914-1918) for throwing hand grenades. See B/W photo of Swiss Federal Archives, CH-SFA#E27#1000/721#14095#3768*

On the B/W photo a french catapult for hand greandes of WWI and on the second image a Polish catapult used in the Warsaw Uprising for launching bottles with gasoline over the walls and buildings in 1944.

I know these people. One of them I knew personally. I met him several years ago in Priozersk in historic festival. Two weeks ago he told that he was shooting this trebuchet
