Is this a tourist piece as I think?
|
I wouldn't call it a tourists piece, but it does look like it may well be a dealer's montage.
The jejeran is from Madura, the gambar is Solo, the pendok is Yogya (and the wrong way around), the mendak is Javanese, and the blade itself is from Jateng (I think, but I'm not very good at identifying a blade's origins). Incidentally, while in a battered state, the pendok seems quite nice. |
Thanks for the information. Is this an old blade or recent? Either way I like it and will buy it tomorrow. Hopefully it's not sold!

Bought it this morning. Not expensive. My first keris!

Pushed some of the damage out of the pendok with a rifle cleaning rod.

Cleaned up pretty nice.

A nice clean-up job.
It's difficult to say how old a blade is exactly. Old blades can look new, and new blades can look old. A lot of it depends on maintenance and climate. Some other members may be able to contribute more on the age of this particular keris. Personally I would think it has some age to it considering it's somewhat weathered features. |
