Swept Hilt Rapier is it a copy

Hi Guys

Spotted this swept hilt rapier at a local arms fair, just looked odd to us and we usually assume we are looking at a Victorian copy. At lunch with a bunch of other collectors the sword was the subject of much debate, some thought it real (but they were not rushing back to the show to buy it) others where sure it’s just another Victorian copy with some age to the hilt. I believe it will be going to auction if it does not sell at the fair, what do you guys think, real or fake.

Looks like a nicely made 19th or earlier 20th century piece to me.

there is nothing that makes me doubt to classify this a later reproduction.
probably early 20th century.

best,
