Well Rick, as a matter of personal taste i prefer the second, plainer hilt. With no actual knowledge about correctness, i think i've seen far more similar blades with the second hilt form, but that doesn't necessarily make it more correct.

Actually it's a matter of preference... for me, none of the selection. I'll choose... instead it depends where it would be used. Anak Alang were widely used in many areas in Sumatra, Peninsular Malaysia and Riau Archipelago...

The 1st hilt is quite new, I do not like this form... and the 2nd hilt is normally reserved for keris panjang...

I would preferred a jawa demam hilt, something like the one below, but that would also depend on the sheath form, matching pendongkok (hilt ring) and where (which region) it would be worn...
