Hi,

I've aquired this sudanese axe recently.

Any comments?

It is Mahdist?

Very nice...is this ceremonial or a battle worthy piece.

Interesting that the brass inlay work matches the style seen on some of the larger bone hilted daggers that are practically "kinjal-like", and some of the larger bone hilted jambiya styles, both typically seen with Islamic script.

It is rather small, so I believe it is a ceremonial or an object of status.

It is of unusual quality for the area, I guess...

Like a mix of these two. The smaller one looks as if it was from the same workshop? How small is small on your axe? Even a small axe could make a big mess of your face or head?
