Indonesian ancestor

Hello,

Not long ago, I got a small wooden statue (16 cm tall). It was sold as being from Indonesia and representing an ancestor.

Does anybody know more about this kind of statues?

Any hint to which part of Indonesia does it come from?

These types of figures are from the Batak peoples, Sumatra. Your example does not look very old to me.

Thank you Colin!

Age is notvso relevant as long as the piece is traditionally made and genuine. :)

Hi Marius,
Sadly it's not very traditional, it's a somewhat better tourist item but decorative. ;)

Detlef
